Detoxing Made Easy

January 07by Cherise K. Branch APRN FNP-BC FAAMM

Detoxing The Correct Way

Let’s talk nutritional support for detoxification.

Detoxification takes place through a number of body systems, including the kidneys, skin, liver and lungs. An effective detoxification procedure must address toxic build-up throughout the body. The build-up and retention of toxins in the body can take years to develop and while it’s not an immediate process, it can be avoided. A focused protocol to address detoxification may take several weeks to accomplish and may need to be repeated frequently to maintain a healthy state.

As you may be aware, our environment is becoming much more toxic. The increase in toxicity is manifesting as a greater incidence of illness and disease as well. Those who struggle with alcohol intake or consume excess amounts may experience a major benefit from participating in an alcohol detox as well. It’s possible and highly recommended to decrease toxic load with implementation of a healthful diet, daily exercise and decreasing chemical exposure (prescription and OTC medications). Taking a quality probiotic can bring an improvement in toxicity-based disease states as well.

In cases of prolonged toxic challenges like the inability to adequately resolve toxicity issues, the addition of supplements to further support detoxification is often highly recommended. The premier antioxidant and nutrient necessary for proper liver support of detoxification is glutathione. In fact, glutathione serves as a primary cellular detoxifier throughout the body. It also can help as a heavy metal chelator and help to detoxify prescription medications and other chemicals that we ingest that are then metabolized through the liver. Maintaining adequate glutathione stores in the body is a major goal for those attempting to maintain good health.

At one time, glutathione was not capable of being effectively supplemented orally and nutritional precursors were utilized to help increase the production of endogenous glutathione. However, the development of a liposomal glutathione product has now been shown to protect glutathione from the degradation that can occur through the process of digestion. This liposomal delivery system offers enhanced absorption never before seen with oral administration! Any detoxification protocol should be followed up with Liposomal Glutathione to help the body rebuild its internal detoxification processes. Overall detoxification can assist in other areas of the body and improve gut health along with supporting colon health.

There are several variables to detoxification to consider when trying to assist all body systems which rely on one another, but rest assured knowing we can navigate your concerns and provide you with a fully customized plan for a step in the right direction. You can book a pharmacy consultation by calling 361-575-4713 or Wellness.Balance.You. at 361-571-4173. Let’s improve together!
