Let’s Kick Start Your Metabolism

The holidays are over and you may be feeling bloated right around now. If your New Year’s resolutions look anything like practicing a healthier diet or becoming more active, kickstarting your metabolism can help you achieve these things!
Here are just some of my favorite ways to help get your metabolism back into gear:

Stay Satiated

Staying fairly full is key to your success in managing your metabolism and your weight. You should aim to eat slowly, until you’re about 90% full, and then stop. This will allow you to determine if you really do need more fuel or if you’re just eating out of habit. If you’re attempting to reduce your caloric intake, starving will only make your metabolism slower as it tries to store the limited energy it’s being provided – that’s the opposite of our goal. Don’t be afraid to eat!

Commit to Breakfast

Did you know those who don’t eat breakfast actually tend to gain more weight over time? That’s because those who skip this meal tend to make up for all that they missed by overeating at lunch, extra snacking throughout the day, and dinner. After resting for a full night, your body is primed to accept the fuel it needs to move through the day. In fact, it needs more fuel because it’s been hours with your metabolism being in rest mode! Eating a breakfast that’s high in protein, with some complex carbohydrates and a bit of fat can jumpstart your metabolism and keep you satisfied until lunchtime. If you are having a difficult time making the transition to eating breakfast, trying our Crave Control supplement might be your answer to help make your life easier. With this, you can still eat but your cravings are curbed!

Increase Your Water Intake

Whether you’re getting your H20 through glasses of water or broth-based soups, giving your body quality fluids is essential to having a well-hydrated metabolism. Water helps keep nutrients flowing into your cells, carries toxins out of your body, and is key to a happy digestive system. This can keep you feeling full, and can help you burn more calories by keeping your metabolism higher over time! Also helpful, the extra nutrients found in broth-based soups are ‘soup-er’ ways to help you digest much-needed vitamins and minerals.

Add Tea or Coffee

The antioxidants and small amounts of caffeine found in black, green, and white tea, as well as coffee, can help to rev up your metabolism. One or two cups a day can provide the most beneficial amounts without going overboard. And, even better, adding herbal teas such as fennel, mint, or ginger tea after a meal can assist your digestion processes, helping meals to settle better and digest more easily – without added caffeine. Our Green Tea-70 supplement can help you achieve this if you’re not used to implementing herbal tea into your daily routine or simply don’t have the time.

Sleep Soundly

The quality of your sleep doesn’t only affect your moods and alertness, but it also has a profound effect on your metabolic functioning. During deep REM sleep, your body’s time for rest and repair is what helps to regulate how the body manages stress hormones, blood sugar levels, and growth hormones – all of which play critical roles in our metabolism. A sleep-deprived body is slower and more lethargic which means it makes weight management much harder.
